Line pilot with IAS, the air alliance managed by Bristow Management Services (a member of the Bristow Helicopters Group) in support of the Barrow Island area offshore oil industry. This is a day/night/IFR operation integrating QANTAS domestic airliners flying between Perth, Western Australia and Barrow Island about 1 000 miles to the north, and helicopters (Aerospatiale AS332L, Sikorsky S76 and Bell Longranger) between Barrow Island and offshore locations.

January 1969 to December 1989, flying mainly Caribou fixed-wing transport and Iroquois utility helicopters, principally in Australia but including detachments to other countries including New Zealand, India/Pakistan and the Middle East. Experience included all aspects of medium fixed wing and helicopter transport operations, as well as dedicated helicopter search and rescue (SAR).

From December 1989, initially flying Bell 212 in the SAR role then mainly offshore in support of the oil industry. Other types flown include Bell 206, Aerospatiale Puma and Super Puma and Sikorsky S76 helicopters, as well as the De Havilland Twin Otter aeroplane. The main locations were in the north west of Western Australia, but other areas include Cambodia and Nigeria.
